Strawberry cupcakes are always a hit at my birthday parties. The sweet, moist cake and the delicious strawberry goodness make it an irresistible treat. Believe me, if you’re a berry lover, just one cupcake will not be enough!

What’s better, cupcakes or cake?
Cupcakes are my favorite thing for parties and birthdays. Don’t get me wrong, cake is amazing. But when you have lots of people, children in particular, gathered around waiting for their slice of cake, the pressure can get to you! That pressure turns into you cutting the slices faster and the cake slices become sloppy and uneven. But lets be real, even without the pressure, it’s tough to get that cake sliced up perfectly and quickly.
That’s where cupcakes enter the scene. Cupcakes are easy to grab and give out. You also aren’t confined to that restrictions of a cake, where you can only pick 1 flavor palette. With cupcakes, you can make so many different flavors and cake-to-frosting combinations!
Let me give you an example…
Lets say your kids love strawberry cake, but you’ll have some picky eaters at the party who will only eat vanilla or chocolate cake, and on top of that you want to include an adult flavor like pistachio cake. You’d have to pick 1 of these flavors and end up with lots of unhappy people! Well, if you chose to make cupcakes instead you could make strawberry, vanilla, chocolate, pistachio, and so much more!

That being said, these strawberry cupcakes the best cupcakes if you’re looking for a natural recipe that includes NO artificial food coloring! These cupcakes are sweet, moist, and filled with strawberry goodness. And you know what comes dead second to a great cupcake in my book? A great muffin! What do you need to make strawberry cupcakes?
For the cupcakes you will need:
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp sour cream
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1/3 cup strawberry puree
For the frosting you will need:
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp strawberry puree

What if you do not want to use strawberry frosting?
I get it, double strawberry action isn’t for everyone. I would recommend a sweet and fluffy cream cheese frosting, or even a deep, rich chocolate frosting or mousse! The options are endless, even a traditional vanilla buttercream would create the flavors of strawberries and cream! Have some fun with the frosting combination if you’re up for it!
