Burger King is heating up the summer with the addition of Fiery Nuggets to participating restaurant menus nationwide from June 19th to August 17th.

Before setting the world of nuggets ablaze however, Burger King was primarily a burger joint created by James W. McLamore and David Edgerton in 1954. James and David sold their first Burger King store in 1959, turning the company into a franchise. Inspired by the chain restaurant figurehead, McDonald’s, Burger King began to hop onto the “fast food” trend, gaining immense notoriety and in turn, becoming a household name.  With more than 7,000 restaurants in America alone, Burger King continues to be one of the biggest players in the fast-food industry.

To be the biggest player though, you have to play the game. In this case, Burger King is playing with fire. Other popular fast-food chains like Wendy’s and Popeyes have already dipped their toes in the world of spicy nuggets, engaging in the ongoing “spicy chicken” trend. Fast food chains all over the world are utilizing this warm and tingly food sensation. However, no other chain is doing it quite like the King.

Burger King Fiery Nuggets are coated in a scorching glaze containing cayenne peppers, birds eye chili and Black pepper, lighting up your taste buds with a unique blend of spices, all while staying true to the original Burger King nugget recipe. The crispy outer breading encases white meat, keeping homage to the nostalgic Burger King taste we all know and love.

What exactly makes the nuggets so spicy in the first place? Some herbs and spices can’t beat the summer heat, right? Well, that’s where you’d be mistaken. See, peppers like the ones in Burger King’s Fiery Nugget glaze contain capsaicin, the chemical that gives peppers their infamous spicy kick. Birds Eye chilies contain a large amount of capsaicin and range anywhere between 50,000 to 100,000 Scoville units on the Scoville scale. This scale ranks and analyzes the spice level of food. The higher the amount of Scoville units in a food item, the spicier that food is. Because of this, Birds Eye chilies are known for being a king in the spice world and bring even the biggest spice connoisseurs to their knees.

Can’t take the heat? How about you enjoy your Fiery Nuggets with a Frozen Fanta drink. Burger King’s Frozen Fanta Kickin’ Mango blends a refreshing and fruity mango flavor with a kick of spicy heat, while cooling things down with everything you love about frozen drinks.

Our Frozen Fanta Kickin’ Mango provides an explosion of bold mango citrus chili flavors that offer a refreshing, tongue-tingling sensation with a spicy finish that passes the hot grill summer vibe check.
