If you are fan of Disneyland, and all the treats this magical kingdom holds, here is some good news for you. Dole whip, a classic and refreshing sweet that first made its appearance in the 1980s, is adding eight new flavors to its collection.
What is Dole Whip?
Dole whip is a soft serve, frozen dessert that is similar to ice cream in texture and appearance but is completely dairy-free. Traditional flavors include pineapple, cherry, mango, lemon, watermelon, orange, raspberry, strawberry, and lime. The new flavors making their appearance this year include the Blue Hawaiian, Creamy Lemon-Blueberry Swirl, Frozen Mexican Hot Chocolate, Golden Curry & Mango, Healthy Halo-Halo Inspired, Mint Green, Sweet & Spicy Tamarindo, and Twisted Candy Cane.
In the past, the dole whip collection was only available at Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and the Dole Pineapple Plantation in Oahu, Hawaii. But the cherry on top of this already exciting news is that the recipes for these new releases are also available online. Now you don’t have to travel to one of these three locations but can instead enjoy the new flavors in the comfort of your own home.
The Blue Hawaiian Dole Whip
One new recipe that was released and the highlight of this article is the Blue Hawaiian Dole Whip. The Blue Hawaiian is a homage to the Dole’s Hawaiian roots and the Hawaiian Pineapple Company that was founded by James Dole in 1901.
The Blue Hawaiian is made with bananas, lemons, pineapple, and coconut, giving it an all-around burst of fruity flavor. The recipe also calls for blue spirulina powder, a blue pigment that comes from blue-green algae. This powder is not only high in nutritional content, but it also gives the blue Hawaiian dole whip its deep ocean-blue color.
Between its vibrant color and refreshing taste, this treat is a little tropical paradise in a bowl. The dole whip is also easy to make, taking only 10 minutes and two easy steps to prepare.
