A warm cafecito just hits different when it’s made in la greca. I love pairing it with a breakfast cookie or this tres golpes sandwich de desayuno, it’s the ultimate morning combo to kickstart a good day.

This is also the espresso coffee I like to use in recipes like ponche de desayuno and tiramisu because it’s robust and well-balanced.

What is the best Dominican coffee

There’s so many well-known Dominican coffee brands, but my favorite is Jarabacoa. Lots of people though opt for the most popular brands like Cafe Santo Domingo, or even the popular Latino coffee brand Cafe Bustelo.

Add cinnamon or nutmeg to your greca coffee

This is one of my favorite ways to spice up my coffee. I add it into the coffee ground so that while the coffee is brewing it is also catching all the flavors from the cinnamon or nutmeg. I think this method creates more depth and warmth in the coffee compared to sprinkling it in after it’s brewed.

How to use a Dominican coffee maker

  • Make sure the greca is clean and dry and unscrew the top part from the bottom part.
  • Remove the filer and fill with coffee, pressing down gently. Optionally, add cinnamon or nutmeg
  • Pour water into the bottom part of the greca, filling it up to have about ¼ inch of space at the top so the water doesn’t spill over when placing the filter.
  • Place the filter into the bottom part of the coffee maker and securely screw the top part onto the bottom part of the greca.
  • Place the greca on the stovetop over medium heat and allow the greca to brew the coffee until the top part is filled, and you hear a gurgling sound.
  • Carefully remove the greca from the stove and pour the coffee into a cup. Optionally, add milk and sugar. Buen provecho!
